A guide to Prayer

When you accepted Yeshua as your saviour, God has accepted you also into His family. You are God's child. As God's child, you can now talk to your Father in Heaven through prayer.

--> Talking to God - what a privilege for man to be able to talk with Him who has the highest honor, highest position, greatest power, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Creator of the Universe!

--> Dialogue - God talks to you, you talk to God. Consequently, prayer involves listening- God listens, be sure you listen. too! You have 2 Ears and 1 mounth, so talk once --> hear twice as much.

a. It is as normal and is to be constant as our breathing! The Scripture says we are to pray without ceasing (1TH 5:17).

b. It comes from an attitude of dependence on Him - that apart from

God we are nothing and can do nothing

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains  in me and I in him, he will bear much :fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (JOH 15:5)

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Yeshua addressed His prayer to the Father and He taught us to do the same.

These words spoke Yeshua, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you: JOH 17:1

We address our prayer to God because He alone can bear and able to answer prayers.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Moreover... MAT 6:7-10

He is not like the dumb idols of the pagans.     [1Encoch 47:2] In that day shall the holy ones assemble, who dwell above the heavens, and with united voice petition, supplicate, praise, laud, and bless the name of the Lord of spirits, on account of the blood of the righteous which has been shed; that the prayer of the righteous may not be intermitted before the Lord of spirits; that for them he would execute judgment; and that his patience may not endure for ever.

1 Praise awaits you, 0 God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. 2 0 you who hear prayer, to you all men will come. PSA 65:1-2

Not to us, 0 LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. Why do the nations say, "Where is their God?" Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. But their idols are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but they cannot smell; they have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but they cannot walk; nor can they utter a sound with their throats. PSA 115:1-7

Read Isaiah 44:9-19 ... the passage ends with ...

Doesn't it occur to them to say, "Half of this tree I used for firewood: I baked bread, roasted meat, and enjoyed a good meal. And now I've used the rest to make an abominable no-god. Here I am praying to a stick of wood!" ISA 44:9-19

    2. PRAY IN Yeshua's NAME

Yeshua gave us the legal right to use His Narne in prayer when we belong to Him.

And in that day you will ask Me no question. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you shall ask the Father for anything, He will give it to you in My name. John 16:23

Remember, too that we have no access to the Father by ourselves, or by any other name, but only through Yeshua.

Yeshua said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me. John 14:6
